Gray Matters (2006)

Heather Graham stars in writer/director Sue Kramer’s 2006 romantic “coming out” comedy GRAY MATTERS.

GRAY MATTERS follows two siblings, Gray (Heather Graham) and Sam (Tom Cavanagh), who are a bit too codependent. After being mistaken for a couple at a dinner party, the two decide to find each other a partner. Gray finds the perfect person for her brother and, overnight, he and this new woman, Charlie (Bridget Moynahan), become engaged. On the night of the bachelorette party the two women share a steamy kiss – forgettable for Charlie, but not for Gray. Now Gray has to cope with her romantic feelings for her sister-in-law and also decide if she’s ready to come out.

Writer/director Sue Kramer was inspired by her friendship with her sister, who is gay, when creating the title character of Gray (Heather Graham). Gray is built of aspects of her sister’s personality, as well as her own – including her love of classic movies, which is something that plays a large role in the film.

GRAY MATTERS premiered at the Hamptons International Film Festival in 2006, and received a limited release in the US in February, 2007. You can currently find it on DVD and streaming on Prime and CTV (Canada), Prime, Roku, Tubi, and Freefee (USA), Plex (UK) and Vix (Mexico).
